Frequently Asked Questions
I used to play, but no longer have my instrument. Can I still join?
Unfortunately, we aren't able to offer instruments. We do have a full set of percussion that is available for percussionists to use in rehearsals.
Does it cost anything to join?
You are welcome to try out our group without paying any dues. If you join our band, we have membership dues of $100 per year ($50 for students) payable in installments throughout the season. This helps fund our insurance, rehearsal venue, and sheet music costs. We are happy to make accommodations if you aren’t able to pay.
What if I play piano?
We have a few pieces this season that will require piano, but many concert band pieces don’t have parts written for piano. However, piano translates really well into playing percussion. Mallet percussion instruments are very easy for piano players to pick-up and are all provided by the band. It’s definitely different from playing traditional piano, but playing with a group of people has its own rewards.
